The "Safety First" Scissor Guide

Royal Mail has strict "Bladed Products" rules. To ensure your tools are safe and your insurance is valid, you must follow these steps to disable all movement inside the package:

  • Secure the Blades: Use a rubber band or small piece of tape around the handles to ensure the scissors stay locked closed during transit.
  • Protect the Points: Wrap heavy cardboard around the blades and tips. It must be strong enough to ensure the points cannot pierce your cushioning.
  • Immobilise the Scissors (Mandatory): Once wrapped, tape your scissors to a larger, flat piece of rigid cardboard. This prevents them from sliding or moving freely inside the envelope. If scissors are allowed to move, they can act like a weight that punches through the packaging.
  • Wrap Individually: If sending multiple pairs, wrap and secure each one separately so they cannot knock together.
  • The Outer Shell: Place your rigid cardboard assembly inside a strong padded envelope (Jiffy bag). Never use a standard paper envelope.

2. Your Tracked 24 Label

Every order includes a Royal Mail Tracked 24 label as standard. It’s faster, more reliable, and tracked to our door.

  • Check Your Email: Look for your confirmation email after checkout; it contains the link to generate your unique label.
  • Accuracy Check: Ensure your full name, address, and order number are clearly visible on the label. If any details are missing, please hand-write them clearly next to the barcode.
  • Enclose Paperwork: Always include a copy of your Order Confirmation inside the package so we can identify your work the moment it arrives.

3. A Note on High-Value Insurance

Our provided Tracked 24 service includes insurance cover for up to £150.

  • Valuable Shears: If your scissors (or the total value of your collection) are worth more than £150, do not use our label. * Our Recommendation: Take your package to a Post Office and arrange your own Special Delivery to ensure your tools are covered for their full replacement value.
  • Liability: Using our Tracked 24 label for high-value items is done at your own risk for any value exceeding the £150 limit.
